|Recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Hafiz Mohammad Mashood|
The first Extra-ordinary General Meeting of the United Muslim Association of Hong Kong was held on 28th February 2010 in Yaqoo Teut Memorial Hall of Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial College
The scheduled time for the meeting was 11:00.a.m. The registration started at 10:30 a.m. The members signed their attendance at the reception counter and then entered the hall. As per constitution of UMAH, the required quorum was 40. By 11:15 a.m. 82 members were already arrived and hence EGM was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Mohammad Masood.
After the recitation of the Holy Quran, acting chairman, Br. Raheel Ahmed delivered his welcome speech and expressed his thanks to all the members for their support to the organization.Next came the proposal of the Council of Management presented by. Br. Yusuf Yu to amend the Memorandum and Articles. The proposal was to reduce the Quorum of Council meeting requirements from 11 to 6 and in case a quorum is not formed then the members present in the deferred meeting will be quorum. The motion was unanimously adopted. Another proposed amendment was to increase the no. of Council members from 12 to 13. Haji Mohammad Ishaque also proposed to make a further amendment to the duties of Hon. Secretary from “correspondence” to “correspondence and staffing”. Br. Yusuf seconded the amendment. There was no objection from the floor and hence the amendment was adopted.
|Next came the election of the new Council of Management. There were altogether 15 candidates. However one candidate withdrew his name. Thus, 14 candidates were left who participated in the election. Members cast their ballot in the ballot box and then the vote count started. Haji Mohammad Ishaque, Br. Ghulan Ali Zafar and Br. Ali Ziaq supervised the election as returning officers. At the end of vote count, it was announced that the following candidates were elected :||
Upon completion of the election, Br. Abu Bakar Ma was invited to give a sharing in the light of Haith Qudsi. He reminded that all of us are accountable to Allah (s.w.t.) and our intention will be a key factor for the acceptance of our service by Allah.
Then came the vote of thanks from Mrs. Din. Mrs. Din thanked for all the support granted to UMAH. She hoped that the new Council of Management will handle the organization matters in a professional and transparent way. Upon a unanimous consensus among all members present, Br. Nassim Martin Khan was appointed as the Honorary Internal Auditor of UMAH.
The EGM ended at 1:40p.m. with a du’a made by Haji Mohammad Ishaque.
